In short

First check the limits: MP4, MOV, MP3 or WAV, size up to 500 MB on Start, 1,000 MB on Pro, 1,500 MB on Business, video from 5 seconds to 90 minutes. If the file is within limits, the cause is most often the connection.

Messages at upload #

  • File size exceeds N MB. Compress the video: 720p is enough for translation, the final sound quality does not depend on it. Or upload just the audio track as MP3.
  • File type not supported. The extension is right, but the codec inside is unusual, for example HEVC MP4 from some phones and cameras. Re-save as MP4 with H.264 in any converter, or as MP3.
  • The file did not finish uploading, the connection dropped. The upload retries itself up to three times. If that did not help, turn off VPN or proxy, try another network or browser. Large files over mobile internet often drop.
  • Session expired. The tab was open for too long. Refresh the page and upload again.
  • The video is shorter than 5 seconds. The video is too short.
  • The video is longer than 90 minutes. This is the maximum on all plans, YouTube links included. Split the video into parts and upload them one by one.
  • YouTube does not hand over this video. Private, age-restricted or region-locked. Download it and upload as a file.

The "Translate" button is disabled #

  • Not enough minutes. The cost is shown next to the button, see What uses minutes. On Free, minutes appear after email confirmation.
  • Your subscription has ended. Renew it on the "Subscription" page. Leftover minutes are kept for 3 more days after it ends.
  • Maximum length exceeded. 30 minutes on Start, 60 on Pro, 90 on Business. Cut the video or change the plan.
  • The selected voice does not speak this language. Pick another library voice or a clone.
  • This voice is on Pro. Premium voices are available on Pro and Business.

Uploading from a phone #

You can upload a file and start a translation from a phone, but the editor works on a computer. If an upload from a phone does not finish, try Wi-Fi or a computer.
