How many speakers to set and what happens if you get it wrong

Updated 12 October 2026

In short

Set how many different people talk in the video, from 1 to 5. The number works as "no more than": if you set 3 and two people talk, Speeek finds two. If you set fewer than there are, two people end up in one speaker and get one voice.

How speakers affect the result #

  • Each speaker has their own voice: a clone from the video, a library voice or your own voice. It is chosen in the upload form for each speaker separately.
  • A clone from the video is built from the speaker's lines. If two people ended up in one speaker, the clone is a mix of both, see Why the voice does not sound like the original.
  • On Start there is one voice for the whole video: all speakers are voiced with one library voice. Different voices and clones are on Pro and Business.

If speakers are mixed up #

Speaker separation sometimes makes mistakes, especially when people talk at the same time, voices are similar or the recording is noisy.

  1. Open the translation in the editor.
  2. Each phrase has a speaker dropdown. Reassign phrases to the right speaker.
  3. Press "Re-voice". The phrases are voiced with the new speaker's voice.

If the speaker you need is not in the list, fewer speakers were set at upload. Upload the video again with the right number.
