In short
The voice places stress on its own and is almost always right. For tricky words, names and terms there are simple tricks right in the phrase text. After editing, press "Re-voice".
Word stress #
- Put the combining acute accent ́ after the stressed vowel: prEsent as pre ́sent. The mark can be copied from here.
- Or write the stressed vowel in capitals: prEsent.
- Works for all voices, including clones. An apostrophe and "+" do not work.
- If the stress is still wrong, rephrase or write the word the way it sounds.
Names, abbreviations, numbers #
- An abbreviation that should be spelled out letter by letter: write it with hyphens or spaces, "S-M-S".
- A foreign name that is read wrongly: write it in the letters of the target language the way it sounds.
- Numbers and dates are better written in words where grammar matters.
Intonation and pauses #
- A full stop sounds restrained, an ellipsis thoughtful, an exclamation mark energetic.
- A comma gives a short pause, two commas in a row ",," a longer one.
- For a long pause inside a phrase, split the thought into two sentences.
If that did not help #
Each phrase has a "Voice again" button: the phrase is voiced once more without editing the text. A clone or a voice reads slightly differently every time, and the second take is often better. Re-voicing a single phrase is counted by characters, see What uses minutes.
